About The Producer
Sonarm is a computer musician, primarily a Dance music producer performing remix and production work although his style often varies and also covers much more soulful, real and artistic moods including genres such as Ambient and Downtempo styles of Electronic music. Working in numerous styles this allows him to be much more creative, open-minded and can take inspiration from genres covering the board.
- As a Dance music producer he has composed a number of Trance and Dance pieces and remixes that are continually getting fantastic reactions the world over.
- As an Ambient music producer he likes to work more with traditional forms of music by incorporating them into his electronic style and creating something unique, new and interesting.
He merges these different attidudes within his music and now works as a versatile music producer creating his own music and also working with bands and solo artists on their own projects as well as providing remixes for artists, bands and other producers and singers of varying styles.
His Style
As a producer in general Sonarm's music frequently varies in style and often brings forward a melancholic and lonely mood incorporating big pads and strings, lush sounds and detailed production work concentrating on mood while creating something 'different' without losing its commercial edge. Add to the mixture intelligence and depth and you have the workings of this Leicester-based music producer.
Always wanting to create something slightly 'different' often involves working with other independent musicians and vocal artists. In doing so, this has allowed him to absorb knowledge of how these musicians and their instruments work, aiding him further in his production and creativity as an artist.
More Information
His work has recently been used on adverts, DVDs and short films and has caught the eyes and ears of some of the top industry professionals as well as experts outside of the field. To date his music has earned him interviews on television, gigs at large festivals and airplay on numerous radio stations.
Having studied music for 3 years - and, as an artist having previously written and produced tracks in genres such as Trance, Triphop, Drum and Bass, Breaks, Electro, Ambient and House - Sonarm has learned to understand music in many forms and incorporate influences from 80s Synth Pop, Classical, Electronica and many other genres which have attracted his attention over the many years of his musical interest. Despite this eclectic bag of influences, his sound is always recognisable, melodic and interesting.
Sonarm has gained the ability and experience to see things from an artist and musician's point of view, being a keyboard player since 2002, and also from a DJ's point of view having been fluent on the turntables since late 2000. This has allowed him to be more creative as an artist and producer than the typical musician who plays only one instrument as he can see outside the producer 'bubble' and integrate these other attitudes into his music.
